Do you have a ham bone in your freezer, but you're not sure what to do with it? Here's a fun assortment of five recipes with crock pot and instructions for the stove. These range from traditional to Creative pea soup with wild rice and ham.
Lentil Soup
Preparation time: 15 minutes Cook: see below
Pams-hams bone
½ pound dried lentils
6 cups water
1 small onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 small can of V8Juice
¼ cup vegetable oil
1 t. Basil (optional)
Salt and pepper to taste
Rinse lentils thoroughly. Mix all ingredients.
In a crock pot, cook on low 8-10 hours, the removal of bone broth. Cut the ham, return soup sliced
On the stove: Combine ingredients and bring to a boil. Then cover and simmer for 2 hours or until beans are soft. The removal of bone stock. Cut the ham, return soup sliced
Split Pea Soup or Navy Bean Soup
Preparation:Bake for 15 minutes: see below
Pams-hams bone
2 cups dried peas or beans
6 cups water
2 carrots, chopped
1 large onion, chopped
1 t. Thyme (optional)
1 t. Basil (optional)
Salt and pepper to taste
Rinse peas thoroughly. All ingredients
Note: in an earthenware pot, cook on low 8-10 hours. The removal of bone stock. Cut the ham, return soup cuts.
On the stove:
Soak the beans overnight with¼ t. Baking powder, if possible.
Combine ingredients and bring to a boil.
Then cover and simmer for 2 hours or until beans are soft.
The removal of bone stock.

Mixed beans soup
Preparation time: 15 minutes Cook: see below
Pams-hams bone
1 pounds mixed dried beans
1 can of chopped tomatoes
1 large onion, chopped
4 cups water
2 stalks of celery - chopped
2 carrots --chopped
3 cloves garlic
1 t. Basil (optional)
Salt and pepper to taste
Carefully wash the beans. All ingredients
Note: in an earthenware pot, cook on low 8-10 hours. The removal of bone stock. Cut the ham, return soup cuts.
On the stove: Soak the beans overnight with T. ¼ yeast cake, if possible. Combine ingredients and bring to a boil. Then cover and simmer for 2 hours or until beans are soft. The removal of bone stock. Cut the ham, the returnChopped ham soup
Broccoli-Cheese Soup
Preparation time: 20 minutes Cook: 30 minutes
Pams-hams bone
1 bunch broccoli, chopped (I use mostly tops)
1 - ½ cup milk
1 (14 ounce) can chicken broth
1 cup water
£ 1 Shredded cheddar cheese or Velveeta
5 T. butter
4 T. flour
Salt and pepper to taste
Steamed broccoli in the microwave.
(1 / 2 cm of water in a saucepan and cook about 3 minutes, until juststart to smell)
In large saucepan, melt butter and stir in flour. Slowly the remaining ingredients, stirring constantly. Add ham bone last. Cook low 30 minutes or more. If it is more often the desired consistency, add more milk. The removal of bone stock. Cut the ham, return soup sliced
Wild Rice and Ham Chowder
Preparation: 30 minutes Cook: 45 minutes
A. 1 ½ cups water, ¾ cup wild rice
B. ¼ cup butter or margarine½ cup chopped onion, 3 cloves garlic, finely chopped, ½ cup flour, 4 cups water and 4 chicken bouillon cubes
C 1 ½ cups peeled, diced potatoes, ½ cup of sliced carrots, ½ t. Thyme, ½ t. Nutmeg, salt and pepper to taste
D. 1 (17 ounce) can whole kernel corn (undrained, 2 cups milk or Half N), pams-hams bone
A. Cook Set aside. B. Combine butter, onion and garlic. Cook until the onion is crisp-tender. Stir the flour. Cook 1 minutesstirring constantly. Add water and broth.
C. Add to a boil, reduce heat, cover and cook for 15-30 minutes. Add D and simmer another 20 minutes. The removal of bone stock. Cut the ham, return soup sliced
